Objectives: To study the expression of PTEN ,Survivin and their relationship with the cellular proliferative activity in breast cancer. Methods: The expression of PTEN ,Survivin, PCNA was envaluated in 60 case paraffin embedded of breast cancer and 18 case of hyperplasia of mammary gland by immunohistochemical technique(SP) , labiing index (PI) of PCNA was acted as a marker of the cellular proliferating activity . Clinnicopatholgic elements were analyzed by chi square test(x2) and t-test.Results: The high expression rate of PTEN was less in breast cancer than in hyperplasia of mammary gland(P<0.05).There was a correation between the expression of PTEN and the cellular proliferating activity in breast cancer .The high expression rate of PTEN was significally inversely correlated with axillary lymph node metastasis , distant metastasis , and it was positively correlated with ER and the survival rate of 5-year. The positive rate of survivin in breast cancer was higher than that in hyperplasia of mammary gland(P<0.05),and the expression of Survivin was positively correlated with the cellular proliferating activity in breast cancer . There was a negative correlation between the expression of PTEN and survivin in breast cancer. Conclusion: This study suggests that the expression of PTEN and survivin is correlated with the cellular proliferating activity in breast cancer, and it is probably that the abnomal expression of PTEN and survivin promote oncogennesis and pogression in breast cancer; the high expression rate of PTEN was significally inversely correlated with axillary lymph node metastasis , distant metastasis , and it was positively correlated with ER and the survival rate of 5-year, PTEN can be used as markers in the prognostication of breast cancer; the expression of PTEN was inversely correlated with survivin, they may have the synergism in the carcinogenesis and progress of breast cancer.
