ObjectiveTo illustrate the blood supply of the hepatic cavernous hemangioma using three-dimensional volume - rendered multidetector CT angiography, in order to conduct the clinical interventional therapy and evaluate prostecdtive efficacy of transcatheter arterial embolization.Material and methods11 patients that were treated in the dept. interventional of the China medical university the second hospital were diagnosed by an uniform standard of ima-giology. All patients had been examined by CT plain scan, CT arteriagraphy (CTA) ,CT arterial portography(CTAP) ,DSA and three-dimensional volume -rendered based on CT angiography. Two radiologists measured mean computerized tomographynumber of the tumor in CT plain scan, CTA, CTAP imagings and maximal diameter of these tumors. Three radiologists appraised the blood supply of the tumor through three - dimensional volume-rendered based on CTA or CTAP and compared these three-dimensional imagings with DSA independently.ResultsThere wasn't statistical signification between CT plain scan and CTAP im-agings(p >0.05). There was statistical signification between CT plain and CTA imagings ( p = 0. 000 - 0. 002). The extent of the maximal diameter of these tumors was from 9. 4mm to 147. 8mm. The imagings of the hepatic artery DSA and three - dimensional volume-rendered based on CTA showed that the tumor blood was supplied by the hepatic artery. The imagings three-dimensional volume- rendered based on CTAP showed filling defect in the region of the tumor except two giant cavernous hemangioma of the liver ( the size of these tumor was 134.0mm, 142. 7mm respective). There were slight hepatic blood sinus in the region of these giant tumors in imagings of three - dimensional volume-rendered based on CTAP.ConclusionThe cavernous hemangioma of the liver was supplied by dual blood origin, the hepatic artery and the portal vein. Hie hepatic artery played a important role in the blood supply of the cavernous hemangioma of the liver, but the portal vein is lesser. The transcatheter arterial embolization was mostly utility for the hepatic cavernous hemangioma. But it was ineffective for these tumor in them were sh'ght hepatic blood sinus. We can evaluate prostecdtive efficacy of transcatheter arterial embolization by the imagings three-dimensional volume-rendered based on CTAP.
