Objective:To discuss the effect of binocular visual acuity differences and visual acuity on stereopsis in amblyopic children patients.Methods:135 cases of amblyopic children patients aged from 4 to 14 years were enrolled in this study. 29 normal children were chosen as control group. The patients' visions were corrected to be the best vision. Both groups were tested on the Phoropter and Yan's random-dot stereograms to examine stereopsis and stereoacuity. Results: The difference was significant in stereopsis between groups of binocular visual acuity differences (BVAD) 2 lines and <2 lines (P<0.01) . The amblyopic children with BVAD 3 lines had no central fovea stereopsis, with BVAD 4 lines had no stereopsis. The difference was significant in stereopsis between groups of visual acuity 0.6 and<0.6 (P<0.01) in amblyopic children of BVAD <2 lines, all the amblyopic children with VA 0.6 got stereopsis. Not all the children whose visual acuity were cured to be normal had central fovea stereopsis (P<0.01) . Conclusion: Binocular visual acuity differences and visual acuity had closely relationship to stereoacuity. The patients whose BVAD 2 lines had unbalanced binocular visual acuity. BVAD 2 lines had obvious effects on stereopsis. And visual acuity <0.6 had obvious effects on stereopsis in amblyopic children of BVAD <2 lines. The stereoacuity are not sure to be perfect when the amblyopic children's visual acuities are normal.
