| Objective: to investigate the expression of heparanase mRNA in preeclamptic placenta and normal placenta, and to investigate its significance.Methods: with RT-PCR, heparanase mRNA in 10 cases of preeclamptic placenta (study group) and 10 cases of normal placenta (control group) were detected. The results were measured by (X S ).Results: the relative expression i ntensity of heparin -ase mRNA were 1.25 0.21 in study group and 0.62 0.41 in control group. T test were used, and it showed the expre -ssion of heparanase mRNA were significantly higher in study group than in control group (p<0.001).Conclusion: the high expression of heparanase mRNA in preeclamptic placenta were related to the embolism of placenta vessels in pre-eclampsia .
