X-Ray Studies On Bone Age And Applied Anatomy About Long Bones Of Lower Extremity

Objective To evaluate a person's growth and development ,bone age acted as a biologic age is a precise marker .By X-ray measurements on many pairs of knee joints and ankle joints ,we can provide reliable anatomic records and data for clinical diagnosis and bone surgery .Meanwhile, we can also provide cardinal anatomic data for pseudoarthrosis design and excerption of treatment programmes .On the other hand ,these data can be significant for physical anthropology and forensic medicine .Material The materials for the present study were obtained randomly from 300 teenagers (150 males,150 females)in Zi Bo city , Shan Dong province. They were all Han people and were all proved to be normal by health examination. Their ages varied from 10 ~20 years old. According to their age, they were devided into five sections(10~13Y,13~14Y, 14~15Y,15~16Y,16~20Y).In every section, 60 teenagers(30males,30females)were studied.These subjects were routinely exposed to X-ray .The film was screened for readability. All radiographs were taken with a standard radiographic technique from 95cmdistance,60kV,200mA,0.10s(kneejoints)and55kV,200mA,0.06s(ank le joint).Then we obtained 600 knee-joint radiographs and 600 ankle-joint radiographs. The magnification 'resulting from the use of this technique was negligible. At the same time, menarche about females was questionnaired .Method For the purpose of the present study, 600 knee-joint and 600 ankle-join radiographs obtained from 300 teenagers were used. Then we measured the widths of femur inferior extremity (Fei), tibia superior and inferior extremity (Ts,Ti), fibula superior and inferior extremity (Fs,Fi). The data obtained by electronic slide gaud were treated statistically by the SPSS software (America) and expressed withthe average and standard deviation.Result 1.The healing time obtained from Fei,Ts,Ti , Fs and Fi of males and females was ahead of time. Compared with males, females advanced by 1 or 2 years.2.We obtained the minimum and maximum, average and standard deviation of Fei,Ts,Ti,Fs and Fi of males and females.3.The mathematical relations between the widths of Fei,Ts,Ti Fs and Fi were found by means of calculation.4.The mathematical relations between the widths of Ts and Fs and the relations between the widths of Ti and Fi were found by means of calculation.5.The mathematical relations between the widths of Ts, Ti and the widths of Fs, Fi were found by means of calculation.6.We obtained several formulas for sexual diagnosis.7.We obtained positive relations between menarche and bone age.Conclusions Our above-mentioned results about bone age provide assurance for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of microsomia teenagers. Meanwhile, these results were significant to handle some bone surgery. They also have applied vale for forensic medicine and physical anthropology.We also obtained several formulas which are very valuable for sexual diagnosis.
