Chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) is a series of chronic inflammation disorders due to atrophy of inherent gastric mucosal glandular cells, among which especially the severe intestinal metaplasia and untypical hyperplasia are considered precancerous lesions by WHO. The incidence in normal people intends to increase nowadays. It pathogenesis has not been well understood up to now. Commonly it is believe to relate with patient's immune system and poor living hygienic conditions. Further more, its development and incidence connect closely to obvious changes in the activity and amount of the active substances related to gastric mucosal oxygen radicals, excessive production of superoxydase, Helicobacter pylori infection, bile reflux, abnormal gastrointestinal hermone levels and digest ion and absorption dysfunctions. It is proved that immune dysfunction connects closely with the development and incidence of CGA. The CGA patients demonstrate abnormity in their humoral and cellular immune systems.It is characterized by long-term course, complicated symptoms and reoccurrence.The chief symptoms are chronic upper abdominal pain, fullness and discomfort, decrease of appetite, belching and acid regurgitation, and scarcely and severely, anemia and pathologic leanness. Based on symptoms, this disease in TCM pertains to the categories of "pi" (feeling of fullness in the upper abdomen), and "wei wan tong" (stomachache). CGA is the major precancerous lesion.The modern medicine suffers its shortage of medications with definite curative effects and light side effects for CGA. In recent years, the CGA patients increasingly accept the treatment by Chinese traditional medications, due to their advantages such as flexibility in components, light side effects and toxicity, and suitability to long-term administration.Our department has been active in the clinical treatment, and fundamental and theoretical investigation of CAG since 1996. We independently designed and developed San shen Zi Wei Yin (Sshzwy), which is mainly utilized to cure stomach-Yin asthenia syndromes in CAG. Thousands of CAG patients were cured with sshzwy, which indicates sshzwy's remarkable efficiency in clinical cases. Sshzwy can improve definitely and markedly not only the clinical symptoms and signs of the CGA patients, but also better the objective indictors for gastroelectroscopic check and pathological analysis. Research confirmed that sshzwy can help the reproduction of glandular and endocrinal cells and increase the amount of gastric mucosal G and D cells CGA mice. It can strengthen cellular immune functions of CGA mice and the activity of their NK cells as well.From the immune perspectives, this experiment further investigated the pathogenesis of CAG and the mechanism how sshzwy cures it. First, we made CAG rat model by using complex method of initiative immunization combined with infusing cold bile and hot water. We cured the CAG rats for 5 weeks, observated and analyzed the chage of the immunological index in each group (vacual control group, model control group, WMS group, SSHZWY high does group, sshzwy moderate does group, sshzwy low does group). in our experiment, we get rat's peripheral blood and operation it according to reagents'illuminate. conclusion: model control qroup's CD4+ activity and CD4+/CD8+ debase compare with normal control group (p<0.05), TNF and IL-2 activity significant incease compare wich normal control group (p<0.01) there are no significant difference in CD8+T lymphotyte. They set up or decrease by treating. Sshzwy and wms can regulate the inunnologic abnormality.organism remain the normal immunologrcal function by balance the positive and negative effect which come from all kinds of calls and molecul which involve in the immune response. Tlymphocyte play a key role in immune system.
