The Feasibility Exploratory Of Placebo Acupuncture

The feasibility exploratory of placebo acupunctureCredibility and validaty are the main measuring indication of placebo treatment, of which,credibility is the primary factor to the success of the treatment.Part I: Clinical trialObject: To test the difference between placebo treatment and regular treatment , in the aspects of feeling and credibility difference between naive patients and experienced patients, this is to explore deeper on the methods and feasibility of placebo treatment.Method : Total 11 healthy volunteers, they are randomly treated by 6 kind of placebo treatment and 2 kind of regular treatment, the order is determined by computer , they receive another treatment after every 2days. After every treatment , we evaluate the pain value(VAS),and their responses such as confidence level ,and to differentiate actual and placebo acupuncture.Results: In the six placebo and 2 regular treatment ,there is significance difference in feeling. For the judgment by between placebo and genuine treatment between naive and experienced patients, the difference has statistical significance.Conclusion: Placebo treatment feeling is difference from regular treatment, it may fail on patients who are experienced.Part II: Theoretical issuesScientific research methodology: From the point of scientific research ,'placebo' can testify whether acupuncture treatment only creates placebo effects, and whether it embodies scientific medical value. Hence, to set up placebo research is meaningful to the research and development of acupuncture , and it is in line with scientific research principles.Ideal placebo acupuncture methods: Ideal placebo treatment requies it to be the same as genuine acupuncture treatment, in the aspects of feeling and outlook, except that it should not create any special effect. That is ,patients who are experienced by placebo treatment should how the same feeling as genuine treatment . and also in the aspects of outlook, operation procedures, needles etc. However, it only creates placebo treatment effects .So there is separation between feeling and medical effect.Traditional acupuncture theroy: All the historical written acupuncture methods are effective which emphasis to get the feeling of "qi", that feelings and effects are inseparable, getting "qi"will lead to effects.Contemporary acupuncture research: It is already proved that , acupuncture can stimulate the points ,through the sense nerves and pass to the spinal cord and central areas in the brain,this will in turn causes systematic organic reactions of different levels in the body. Conclusion: placebo acupuncture is improbable to acupuncture theory.
