Objective To investigate aromatasecy P450, estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR) in the tissues of endometrial hyperplasia and atypical hyperplasia, to study their value in clinical treatment and the occurrence, development and carcinomatous changes of the endometrial hyperplasia and atypical hyperplasia and to provide a guide for clinical work. Methods The immunohistochemiscal S-P method techniques were amplified to explore the expression of aromatasecy P450, ER and PR in the tissues of endometrium. 116 cases were chosed as observed groups and divided into 3 groups (30 cases as simple endometrial hyperplasia, 32 cases as complex endometrial hyperplasia and 54 cases as endometrial atypical hyperplasia). 37 cases of the normal prolificative phase endometria were chosed as control group. The occurrence, development, treatment and conversion of these cases were analyzed. Results There was not significient positive expression in the normal prolificative phase endometrial tissues. But the positive expressions of aromatasecy p450 were found in the tissues of endometrial hyperplasia (simple endometrial hyperplasia, complex endometrial hyperplasia and atypical hyperplasia). The rates of the positive expressions were 41.1%, 46.1% and 73.2% respectively. There were significant correlations among four groups. (X2=46.69, P<0.001 ). In the tissues of normal prolificative phase endometrial and endometrial hyperplasia, the positive expressions of ER and PR were 70.8%,72.6%, 73.4% , 74.1% and 72.4%,72.4%, 74.6% ,75.8% respectively. There were no significant correlations among the fourgroups (X2=0.236, P=0.971). There were a positive correlation between the positive expressions rates of aromatasecy P450 and the degree of the histological atypia. The expressions of ER and PR compared with the degree of endometrial hyperplasia and histological atypia were not correlations. The expression rates of aromatasecy P450 were significant correlations between the observed groups and the control group (P<0.01). There were no correlations between the expressions of ER and PR in endometrial hyperplasia (simple endometrial hyperplasia, complex endometrial hyperplasia and atypical hyperplasia.).Conclusions There were correlations between the abnormal expression rates of aromatasecy P450 and the occurrence, development of endometrial hyperplasia. There were positive correlations between the positive expression rates of aromatasecy P450 and endometrial hyperplasia and the degree of the histological atypia in endometrial atypical hyperplasia. Aromatasecy P450 may be a factor that can induce endometrial hyperplasia and carcinomatous changes. It may become a biomarker in early carcinomatous changes in endometrial tissues. The expressions of ER and PR were found in four groups and there were no correlations with the histological atypia. It indicates that the occurrence of endometrial hyperplasia had correlations with estrogen stimulation in endometrium. The positive expressions of PR may be a prognostic factor in conservative treatmeat of endometrial hyperplasia. The correlations of the expressions of aromatasecy P450, ER and PR in endometrial hyperplasia and carcinomatous changes tissue.have not been shown in this study.
