Objective: To study the effectiveness and optimum access of the treatment to SARS by intervention of Chinese Traditional Medicine (CTM) and Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine (ICWM). Documents and Methods: Database is built up from 430 pieces of clinical case of Shanxi province. After data input by use of software EPIdata3.0, data process including check, cleaning up and locking up is done. Statistics analysis is made by software SAS8.2. In the article, the historical cohort study method is adopted to make a great varieties of researches on the factors such as clinical symptoms, laboratory test index,X-ray chest film etc. Results: The demographic data between two groups of ITCWM and pure Western Medicine (WM) is equally comparable(P>0.05). The ratio of patients who have other diseases in ITCWM group is higher than that of pure WM group(P<0.05). The condition of patients in ITCWM group is heavier than pure WM group when hospitalizing (P<0.05). The abnormal types showing in X-ray chest films of two groups have significant differences statistically (P<0.05)with more shadows of fleck in ITCWM group. The body temperature in ITCWM group is apparently higher than WM group(P<0.01)at first time window although descending in second time window until having no statistical difference in 4th time window(P>0.05). PaCO2 analysis has significant statistical difference in 4th time window(P<0.05)and ITCWM group is lower than WM group apparently. The average counts of Lymphatic cells in ITCWM group are higher than WM group when the treatment ending up(P<0.05). There is no significant statistical difference between the groups while using methylprednisolone the amounts of which have positive correlation with the age. Analysis of variance on the repeating body temperature measuring between two groups shows that there is significant statistical difference between the groups and the points of measuring time. Analysis of covariance on the period of treatment between two groups shows that there is significant statistical difference between not only the groups but also the age and the dosage of methylprednisolone. Conclusion: CTM has certain effective results in treatment to SARS disease.
