Background: According to the sampling survey of 14 countries by World Health Organization(WHO) , the result revealed that the incidence of all kinds of psychologic obstacles among inpatients of general hospital was 25%~35%, that was 39%~55.1%[1-4] in department of neurology, which would seriously affected therapeutic efficacy of inpatient, lengths of stay lengthened, all kinds of cost increased, mortality rate and mutilation rate increased and rate returned to society decreased. With the medical pattern converted from single biology medical Patten to biology-psychology-society Patten, although many scholars and clinicians who were in internal and external country have gradually paid close attention to mental status of inpatients in department of neurology, most Time of the correlated studies has been after 2 weeks of admission, however, in fact less study paid close attention to mental status of inpatients in 2 weeks of admission ,so that inpatients couldn't be diagnosed early intervened treated , cure rate decreased and prognos effected.This study had represented the basic characteristic and regular raised of psychologic obstacles among inpatients in department of neurology by analyse mental status, and discussed the related factors include somatic function social factor and personality factor to provide theory foundation of early treatment.Objective: To explore the mental status of inpatient in department ofNeurology of general hospital and the related factors.Method: The mental status of inpatient in department of Neurology were assessed with self-made questionnaire Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90) Hamilton Depression Rating Scale for Depression (HAMD) Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale for Anxiety (HAMA) and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ), and the domestic norm as control in SCL-90 and EPQ, Which were analyzed by t-test logistic multiple regressive analysis and Pearson correlated analysis .Results:1. The incidence of the depressive disorders and the anxious disorders were 63.3% 46.0%, respectively; The scores of 7 factors which include total scores the number of positive or negative factors somatisation depression anxiety hostility panic and psychosis in SCL-90 were higher than those in control group(P< 0.01), the scores of individual sensitivity in SCL-90 were lower than those in control group (P< 0.01) , there were no significant differences in the scores of compulsion and paranoia in SCL-90 between two groups (P>0.05) . The changes of mental status, which included somatisation depression anxiety panic and psychosis, were especially evident, the incidence of them were 67.3 % 56.0 % 41.3 % 24.0% 39.3 %, respectively; And mild moderate degree of the depressive disorders and the anxious disorders were dominant.2. Limbs disturbance and concerning by relatives were correlated with the somatisation depression anxiety panic and psychosis; in addition, social communication was correlated with the depressive disorders; Age and hobby were correlated with the psychosis disorders.3. The scores of neurotisim(N) in EPQ were higher than those in control group ( P<0.05 ) , the scores of extra-introversion(E) and psychoticism (P) in EPQ were lower than those in control group (P< 0.01), there were no apparent differences in the scores of lie(L) in EPQ betweentwo groups (P>0.05) .4. The N score of in EPQ was positively correlated with all factor scores of SCL-90; the L score of in EPQ was negatively correlated with all factor scores of SCL-90 other than somatisation ., compulsion and depression factor; The E score of EPQ was positively correlated with hostility and paranoia factor scores of SCL-90; the P score of EPQ was positively correlated with paranoia factor scores of SCL-90.Conclusion:1. The characteristic mental staitus of inpatient in department of Neurology of general hospital in acute period was that the incidence of the depressive disorders and the anxious disorders were high, that of somatisation -. panic and psychosis was higher than norm...
