Objective To investigate the diagnosis and treatment of Papillary renal cell carcinoma(PRCC). Methods A retrospective analysis of 10 cases of PRCC which were encountered in our institute between 1985 to 2003. Results Radical nephrectomy was done in 10 patients. 9 patients had been followed up and one patient hadn't, 4 patients were alive and tumor free for 9 months to 11 years with a mean of 7.5 years. Conclusions PRCC is an uncommon subtype of renal cell carcinoma, it tends to present at an earlier stage. Definite diagnosis depends on the typical pathological and molecular cytogenetical features. Open operation is the treatment of choice.
