Objective To investigate the changes of NO/ET ratio in left gastric vein ofcirrhotic patients with portal hypertension and examine the relationship betweenratio and vein pressure. Methods Content of ET and NO in left gastric vein of patients with portalhypertension were measured by method of RIA and nitric acid reductase. Theratio were compared with those of control and the correlation with vein pressurewere observed. Results The ratio of ET/NO in patients with portal hypertension weresignificantly higher than those of control(p<0.05)and positively correlated withpressure of left gastric vein markedly(r=0.5821,p<0.05).Conclusion The balance of ET and NO was impaired in patients with portalhypertension that might contribute to pathogenesis. Ratio of ET/NO could beused indirectedly to estimate the portal pressure so as to indicate EsophagusGastric Varicose vein Bleeding(EGVB)...
