Relation Of Syndrome Differentiation Of TCM Of Acute Period Of GBS With Neuroendocrine-immunoregulatory Network

Objective: Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) is an autoimmunity polyneuropathies because of nonspecific infection. The main clinical situation is all extremital symmetrical flaccid paralysis. A part of patients damaged cranial nerve. Severe patients can merger with respiratory myoplegia. Certain mechanism of GBS is not unknown. There are many theories. The theory of molecule model is recognized by many scholars. This theory thinks because the component of pathogen is similar to peripheral nervous', body causes cross immunity, peripheral nervous demyelinate. At present, people detected the level of many immune factors of patients with GBS increased, such as interleukin-2 (IL-2) and Tumor necrosis-a (TNF-a). Level of T cell subgroup and immunoglobulin were abnormality. They show immune system of GBS is disorderly. In addition, Endocrine system of patients with GBS was affected. Their level of cortisol and thyroid hormone were abnormal. So mechanism of GBS includes functional changes of many systems. According to clinical situation of GBS, it should belong to Flaccidity Syndrome (one of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) disease). Flaccidity Syndrome is diseases which show extremities are feeble,asthenia and muscular atrophy. In TCM, there was integral theoretical architecture about its diagnosis and therapy, and was summarized a large number of effective medicaments. Flaccidity Syndrome was differentiated four Syndrome in Internal Medicine of TCM edited by wang Yongyan, including Syndrome of deficiency of fluid according to lung heat,Syndrome of deficiency of spleen and stomach qi,Syndrome of damp-heat immersion and Syndrome of liver-kidney impairment. But syndrome differentiation of TCM only depends on clinical symptom but not objective maker. People dose not understand essence of syndrome of TCM. mechanism of GBS involved many system, such as nervous system ,immune system and so on. From the point of combination of TCM and western medicine, we studied syndromes of TCM of GBS and their relation with neuroendocrine-immunoregulatory network in order to offer referenced marker and evidence of syndrome differentiation. Method: Experimental Group: 54 patients with GBS who were admitted from September 2003 to January 2004 were selected. Among of them, there were 31 males and 23 females. Normal Control Group (NCG): 20 healthy person including 10 males and 10 females who hadn't any history of immune disease and recent vaccination were selected.
