Modern Restorative Dentistry calls for "Minimal Intervention Dentistry" which can preserve more tooth tissues. The constantly development of adhesive materials and techniques provided a technical facility for this demand. Enamel bonding has been proven reliable by the application of the adhesive technique, while dentin bonding is more problematic because the particular structures of itself. The progress of dentin adhesive systems is a lengthy and chronic process. Self-etching adhesive system of "two step" composed of self-etching primer and adhesive agent is one of the most worldwide used adhesive systems. Self-etching primer consist in mild acidic functional monomers which can etch and treat the dentin surface simultaneously. As well as satisfied dentin bond strength achieved, there is no need to rinse the etchant for this system before the adhesive application, so can simplify the procedures and avoid post-sensitivity effectively by eliminating that step.We used methacrylic acid, HEMA, water and maleic acid, HEMA, water to synthesize two kind of experimental self-etching primer(ESEP) respectively. We divided them into 4 groups of A1, A2, B1, B2 by their different concentration of acidic monomers. The...
