| Objectives1. Taking observation of the relationship between functional dyspepsia (FD) and anxiety, depression and gastrointestinal motility.2. Making evaluation of the effectiveness of clinic treatment with pinellia -magnolia agent ( composed of pinellia , magnolia , ginger, tuckahoe and perilla leaves) on of the functional dyspepsia featuring anxiety and /or depression FD, and gastrointestinal motility. The effectiveness can be traced in functional change of gastro evacuation and small intestine digestion prior to or after taking medicine and various levels of symptom improvement, based on which the traditional medicine is developed with its new character .Methods1. Diagnosed by ROM II standard, 100 FD - afflicted patients went through the test of anxiety, depression and FD by means of SAS, SDS, from which the relationship between FD and psychological factors were observed. Those with the symptom of anxiety, depression and FD were selected to take oral pinellia - magnolia agent . After four weeks, they went further through the prior observation test and then the test results were taken into comparison.2. Having the FD patients with motility deficiencies take orally ROMS radiopaque markers and after 5h and 72h, having them be X - rayed . Then, havingcheck , making comparison of the number of ROMs left in stomach and intestine prior to and after taking medicine. , and making Evaluation of the effectiveness of the medicineResultsFrom the experiment, some results of the study could be gotten as following:1. 19.00% of the 100 FD patients have the symptom of depression, 10. 00% have the symptom of anxiety and 20.00% have both of the two symptom. 2. After taking the pinellia -magnolia agent, the anxiety and depression symptom of patients could be improved. The score of FD patients with anxiety and depression symptom was positively correlated to the FD symptom score (r=0. 942, r=0.931,p(0.01). After taking the medicine, the score of anxiety (46. 35 ±6. 48)and FD(8. 55 ±3. 30) was improved in comparison with the score of anxiety (48. 85 ±5. 39) and FD score( 10. 95 ±4. 20)before taking the medicine.3. With the FD patients with motility deficiencies, the rate of gastric clearance of ROMS was 8. 75% ± 1. 88% , much lower than the comparative group which was 94.00% ±5. 73%, p<0. 01. After taking the pinellia - magnolia a-gent,the rate of gastro evacuation increased by 35. 50%±4. 62% , p < 0. 05, which did not have obvious difference with cisapride group, but p >0. 05. The pinellia - magnolia agent could improve the function of gastro motility, but doesn t influence the intestinal motility obviously.DiscussionsFD is a kind of common digestive system disease, covering 20% to 40% of all the digestive patients. Recently, a mode of physiology - psychology - society caused the disease was proposed by some experts abroad, and the three factors mentioned above are recognized being both independent and correlated with each other, but the factors of psychological abnormity and social stress are much more important among the three.
