ObjectiveThe experiment was to evaluate the relationships between the expressions of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and Insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF-1 R) and radiosensitivity in patients with lung cancer. There were some arguments about the relationships between the expression of VEGF and radiosensitivity. Many experts thought VEGF was the negative factor to radiosensitivity, but some people thought the contrary. VEGF is regard as inducement of hypoxia in cancer, and hypoxia is a very important factor for radioresistance, so there are perhaps some relationships between the expressions of VEGF and radiosensitivity. Generally, IGF-1 R can affect the growth, difference, proliferation of normal cells, when normal cells transform malignity ones IGF-1 R can also affect the metastasis, recurrence of the cells, it perhaps influences radiosensitivity by the ways of apoptosis and prevents the reparation of radiation damage.Materials and MethodsThirty-nigh patients with lung cancer were treated with curative radiotherapy at oncology department. All people didnt fit for surgery and took on conventional fractional radiotherapy or 3D-CRT. After complete therapy everyone examined by CT again, and get the availability rate (CR + PR and NC + PD) by the same international standard of body tumor, CR + PR were considered radiosensitivity tumor and NC + PD were considered radioresistance tumor. While expressions of VEGF and IGF-1 R in biopsy specimens and surgery specimens were studied before radiotherapy by means of SP immunohistochemistry staining, each...
