Objective: To study the expression of Elf-1 c-erbB2 in normal, atypical hyperplastic and malignant endometrium. Methods: The expression of Elf-1 c-erbB2 was determined from formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues of normal, atypical hyperplastic and malignant endometrium with innumohistochemical technique. Results: 1-The expressive intensity of Elf-1 in malignant endometrium was significantly higher than that in normal, atypical hyperplastic endometrium. But there was no difference between normal and atypical hyperplastic endometrium. The increased expression of Elf-1 was related to clinical stage histological grade, myometrial invasion and lymph node metastasis. 2. The expressive intensity of c-erbB2 in malignant endometrium was significantly higher than that in normal endometrium. There was no difference between normal and atypical hyperplastic endometrium. The increased expression of c-erbB2 was related to clinical stage histological grade and lymph node metastasis. No relationship was found with myometrial invasion. Conclusions: Elf-1 expression in endometrial carcinoma correlates with the malignant potential of this tumor.
