Dental caries is one of the most widely prevalent oral diseases of the population around the world. Prevention of early childhood caries in primary dentition has been the emphasis due to its high prevalence and low treatment rate. Because of the variety of causes and universality of dental caries in primary dentition, there is no single project could attain the best caries prevention effect. That is, it is much important to explore a comprehensive prevention project that is effective and easy to conduct. According to overseas relative studies, the most effective and feasible caries prevention model was the one based on community both in the developed and developing countries. Thus, the main aim of the study were to explore a comprehensive model on prevention of early childhood caries in the kindergartens in Taiyuan Xiaodian District, and to analyze the effectiveness, feasibility and propagablity of the model. The results could provide some basis on the primary dental caries prevention for preschool children in Taiyuan.A total of 120 4 years old children from 5 kindergartens in xiaodian district were included in the study according to the inclusion Criteria. The subjects were divided into study group, positive control group and control group. Subjects in study group accepted the comprehensive dental care, while subjects in positive control group accepted oral health education and those in control group accepted no measures. The changes on oral health and dental care between the study group and the control group were observed after 1 year. The cost effective analysis were also conducted.
