[Objective] To explore the diagnostic values andclinical significance of detecting soluble Fas and soluble FasL of pleural effusions in differentiating tuberculous and malignant pleural effusions.[Mothod] Applying enzyme-linked immunosorbentassay(ELISA)method to detect the content of 43 tuberculous pleural effusions and 32 malignant pleural effusions .[Results] (1) The mean content of soluble FasL of tuberculous pleural effussions ( 13.56 ± 5.38ng/ml ) was markedly higher than that of malignant pleural effusions ( 5.72 ± 2.59ng/ml), the difference between them was very notable (P < 0.001 ) .If 10ng/ml was regarded as limit, the sensitivity, the specificity and the rate of right of diagnosing tuberculous pleural effusions were 81.4%, 81.3 % and 81.4 %, respectively when the content of soluble Fas of pleural effusions was higher than lOng/ml .(2) The mean content of soluble Fas of tuberculous pleural effusions ( 150.37 ± 52.08ng/ml) was elevatedly higher than that of malignant pleural effusions ( 83.69 ± 31.35ng/ml), the difference between them was notable ( P < 0.001 ) .If 110ng/ml was regarded as limit , the sensitivity , the specificity and the rate of right of diagnosing tuberculous pleural effusions were 72.1%, 68.8% and 70.7% respectively when the content of soluble Fas of pleural effusions was higher than HOng/ml .(3)The content of soluble Fas and soluble FasL of malignant pleural effusions was negatively correlated ( r=-0.603 ) ,the content of soluble Fas and soluble FasL of tuberculous pleural effusions was...
