objective Transient elevation of intraocular pressure (IOP) is a frequent occurrence after pars plana vitrectomy , Severe pressure elevation may result in visual loss . To investigate the incidence and risk factors of IOP elevation in patients who have undergone vitreoretinal surgery .methods we retrospectively study 119 patients (132 eyes) who underwent vitreoretinal surgery in our department and analysis the factors that may be related to the state of high ocular pressure . The ocular pressures in both preoperative and postoperative periods were detected by non-touch tonometry examination, and the ocular hypertension was defined as IOP more 24mmHg . The relationships of occurrence of the time of onset and duration of persistence of postoperative ocular hypertension with the age, the different kinds of primary diseases , the techniques of operation , and the condition whether or not the affected eyes had formerly accepted surgical intervention , were analyzed. In this study we use ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) to analyzsis the anterior segment changes . results The IOP occurred in 50 eyes after operation (37.88%). The rate of IOP elevation with the male or the female was 37.66% or 37.18% , the difference being not statistically significant (X2 =0.004, P =0.952). The rate of IOP elevation with the different sex and different age range was respectively ( P < 0.05). The probability of postoperative IOP elevation in the patients suffered from the retinal detachment with proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) ≥ qrade C2 was the highest in all the patients in our study (56.25% , P < 0.05 ). The patients...
