Clinic Research Of Transient Intraocular Pressure Elevation After Pars Plana Vitrectomy And Silicone Oil Injection

Objective:Transient elevation of intraocular pressure is a frequent occurrence after pars plana vitrectomy and silicone oil tamponade.Severe pressure elevation may result in visual loss.To investigate the incidence and risk factor of intraocular pressure in patients who have undergone pars plana vitrectomy and silicone oil injection.Methods:We retrospectively studied 399 patients(402 eyes) who had undergone vitreoretinal surgery and silicone oil tamponade in our department.The ocular pressure in both preoperative and postoperative periods was measured by non-touch tonometry examination,IOP more than 25 mmHg was defined as the ocular hypertension.The relationship of the gender,age,scleral buckling,laser treatment,ocular trauma with postoperative ocular hypertension was analyzed Results:The IOP occurred in 79 eyes after operation(19.65%).the rate of IOP elevation with the male or the female was 18.34%or 25.25%,the diffference being not statistically signigicant(X~2 =2.742 P=0.098 )o The rate of IOP elevation with different sex was non-respectively.The hignest rate diesease of different age ranges was 35-45.The probability of postoperative IOP elevation with phacoemulsification and intraocular lens(IOL) implantion or not was 45.07%or 11.2%,the difference being statistically significant(X~2 =37.285 P=.000) The rate of IOP elevation with scleral bucking or not was 31.4%or 14.6%,the difference being statistically significant(X~2 =20.927 P=0.000). The rate of IOP elevation with scatter endophotocoagulation or not was 17.1%or 22.7%,the difference being not statistically significant(X~2=20.20 P=0.167).The rate of IOP elevation with the condition whether or not the affected eyes had formerly accepted ocular injured or not was 10.4%or 22.5%,the difference being statistically significant(X~2 =6.812 P=0.009).The most of postoperatively hypertension occurs in 2d after surgery.Conclusion;IOP elevation was a common complication of viterctomy and silicone oil intraocular surgery.The patients without previous ocular injured,in the age range of 35-45,combined ocular bucking,phacoemulsification and intraocular lens(IOL) implantion are the risk of IOP elevation after PPV and silicone oil intraocular.
