Objective: To study the difference of bone mineral density(BMD) among the old patients with hip fracture over 55 years old. To identify the role of hip BMD between the senile osteoporotic hip fractures and osteoporosis . Expecting to improve the reliability and correctness of risk prediction of senile osteoporotic fractures. Method:According to inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria, the elderly people diagnosed as the osteoporotic hip fracture in the first hospital of Nan Chang city in the several years and others coming to the same hospital for physical examination are introduced to the case group and the control group respectively, the fractured group including 120 peoples and the nonfractured group including 327 old people. We examine the BMD of hip(normal side in the case and the left side in the control)and their bone mineral density were measured with Norland-XR36DEXA. All involved subjects were divided into three groups according to ages: the first group from 55 to 64; the second from 65 to 74; the third above 75.we analysis the difference of BMD in the same age group between the same sex and different sex.. Result: All of quantitative data was analyzed statistically. There was significant difference in BMD among the 55 years group,65 years group and 75 years group with hip fracture(p<0.05)/but there was no sexy significant difference in 55 years group's(p>0.05) between the fractured and nonfractured group. Conclusion: Athough hip fracture in the aged is often caused by fell, osteoporosis is the main inner factor causing hip fracture. In spite of the fact that BMD n the old males with same age is higher than that in the females; osteoporosis is existed in them at different extent;especially it is serious in those females with hip fracture.
