Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is an advanced chronic rheumatic disease. The main pathological manifestation is the chronic inflammation of central axis. It also can involve the internal organs and other tissues. Clinical main symptoms is the stiffness and pain of the lumbar, sacro, ack, cervical spine and hip, even affect to the hypochondria and anterior part of thorax. At present, there is not satisfactory treatment to AS. The curative effect of traditional Chinese medicine especially acupuncture therapy, have been approved positive. Compared to western medicine treatment, it has obvious advantages. In this study, it primarily summarized ankylosing spondylitis on its development in China or abroad, in order to discuss the theory study on application of Acupuncture. By the analysis of a typical AS case, observed the clinical and CT result, compared to the mutative conditions of clinical symptom) nerve function , objective sign and motor dysfunction before and after acupuncture treatment were observed, combined with the existing practical problem during the course of clinical treatment for AS, and the clinical therapeutic effects achieved by application of Acupuncture, we can draw conclusions as follows:1. Acupuncture therapy for AS has many advantages such as good therapeutic effect, little side effect, simple operation.2. Compared to the typical AS case's conditions of clinical symptom, objective sign and motor dysfunction before and after Bilateral Sides of the Spine treatment, we can confirm that Bilateral Sides of the Spine treatment is one of the effective method to treat AS.3. Acupuncture therapy plays an important role in enhancing the existence quality of rheumatisant and the clinical therapeutic level of beriberoid diseases in our country.
