This paper gives a systematic study of the preparation of tissue engineering scaffolds by electrospinning. The prepared scaffolds were evaluated by cell compatibility, degradation, structure analysis and mechanical test to prove the potentialitis for tissue engineering scaffolds. The results showed that the electrospinning scaffolds mimicked Extrocelluar Matrix (ECM) well, with high porosity, well interconnected, high surface-to-volume ratio that was suitable for cell growth. The method had some advantages such as mild processes, low requirement for equipment and environment, avoiding degradation of polymer and conduced to composite bioactive factors, solvent evaporate naturally and so on.Parameters in electrospinning process that would affect properties of electrospun scaffold were investigated, especially voltage, concentration of solution, receiving distance, feeding speed and solvent. After process optimization, biodegradable PLLA scaffolds were obtained and a general principle for process control was proposed. Additionally, mechanical property, biodegradation in vitro and cytocompatibility of scaffolds were investigated and the potential apply of this kind of scaffolds in tissue engineering area was evaluated. For the first time, we prepared PLLA/calcium phosphate composite scaffold byelectrospinning, including PLLA/HA and PLLA/ 3 -TCP. Structure, hydrophilicity, mechanical property, degradation and cytocompatibility were studied and compared with pure PLLA scaffold. The results proved that composite of calcium phosphate could accelerate in vitro degradation, maintain structure of scaffold and avoid collapse of scaffold in degradation process of PLLA, promote hydrophilicity and improve cytocompatibility. It can be concluded that electrospinning is a novel potential method for preparing tissue-engineering scaffold.
