Objective: To study the expression of lymphatic vessel growth factor (VEGF-C) and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP-2) in Thyroid Papillary Cancer and relationship to Lymphoid Metastasis.By view of studying index to forecast condition of Lymphoid Metastasis,to guide clinical screening for reasonable application of functionality neck. Methods: 108 cases of Thyroid Papillary Cancer cere from Shandong province hospital (from 6.198912,1999),were investigated by immuohistochemistry S-P ,contacted with 30 cases of normal tissue neighbouring cancer .All cases were followed up five years.44 cases of positive (cN+ ) and 64 cases of clinical negative(cNo),25 cases with lymphoid metastasis among 64 cases of negative(cNo). Determining expression of VEGF-C and MMP-2 respectively. Statistics analysis: application of SPSS10.0Results:1. The positive expression of VEGF-C ,MMP-2 in Thyroid Papillary Cancer(108 cases) was 87.9%, 87.1%, which was significantly higher than that of the normal neighbouring cancer (16.7%,23.3%). (P<0.05) .2. In 108 cases the ratio of Lymphoid Metastasis is 40.7% (44/108) ,the expression of VEGF-C,MMP-2 is 95.4%(42/44), 82.8% (53/64) , 95.4%(42/44), 81.2% (52/64 ) , in positive and negative group of Lymphoid Metastasis respectively. which is significantly difference.3. The ratio of recessive Lymphoid Metastasis is 39.1 % in cN0 cases(25/64).There are lymph node metastasis 69 cases were followed-up. The positive expression of VEGF-C is 92.0%, 71.8% in positive and negative group ofcNo cases . The positive expression of MMP-2 is 92.0%, 69.2% in positive and negative group of cNo cases, they all have significantly difference.4. the expression of VEGF-C, MMP-2 in male and female cases of Thyroid Papillary Cancer were consistently 86.7% (39/45), 88.9% (56/63) (P>0.05) ,86.7 % (39/45 ), 87.3% (55/63) (P>0.05) .5. In 70 cases(age<45 years ) and 38 cases (^45 years) of Thyroid Papillary-Cancer, the expression of VEGF-C, MMP-2 were consistently 92.8% ( 65/70 X 78.9 % (30/38) P<0.05) ,92.8% (65/70), 76.3% (29/38) (P<0.05) .6. VEGF-C, MMP-2 was consistently expressed in cases of tumor^ 1.0cm, >1.0cm.but it was prevented in 75.0% (27/36), 72.2% (26/36) of cases of tumor ^ 1.0cm and in 94.4 % ( 68/72), 94.4 % (68/72 ) of cases of tumor> 1.0cm. which is significantly different. (PO.05)7. In cases of clinical pathological grade I II III, the expression of VEGF-C is 80.0% (28/35), 95.1 % (58/61), 75.0% (9/12)respectively, the expression of MMP-2 is 77.1 % (27/35), 95.1 % (58/61), 75.0% (9/12) respectively, which is significantly different. (PO.05)Conclusions:1. The expressions of VEGF-C, MMP-2 are closely correlative with condition of Lymphoid Metastasis in fhyroid Papillary Cancer.2. The expressions of VEGF-C, MMP-2 have no relationship with gender, but correlative with age, size of tumor, clinical grade and condition of Lymphoid Metastasis.3. The expression of VEGF-C is closely correlative with that of MMP-2,they could be used for forecasting condition of Lymphoid Metastasis to guild clinical functionality neck lymph node dissection.
