Objective To compare the rhinal anatomies of human beings and goats so as to find out a new model as the rhinal interrelated object for animal experiments; to evaluate the innocuity of the rhinal stent and to make goats as a specimen to find out what is changed after the implantation of the rhinal stent; to study what it can do for goats nose and to implant reticulate stainless steel stent into the nasal cavity for distending in order to treat epistaxis and nasal cavity blocked by chronic rhinitis or traumatic straitness. Material and method First, The isolated heads of 100 goats were split through the mid suture. The anatomic symbol was measured after the homogeneous organ configuration from suture section was found out. Second, the stent, made from the dental stainless steel wire with coat, was implanted into the left nasal cavities of 30 goats with a homemade planter and the change of the nasal cavity was studied. Results The cubage of asingle nasal cavity of goats was about 40-50ml;the length was 14.19cm(14.07-14.31) ;the anterior width was 2.83cm (2.78-2.87) ; the posterior width was 5.72cm (5.62-5.83) ; and the syncretic mid-lower nosepiece was 2.63cm (2.59-2.67) in lengths. The feeling of rhinal eyewinker was expressed in the first 1-2 days. The infection occurred in 3 goats in their left nasal cavities. But the ventilation was better than that of the contrasting nasal cavities within various periods. When removed the stents left trough-like vestige and transformed the tissue in histology. Discussion Although the paranasal sinus are different between goats and human beings, as to themucous membrane and other configurations such as Syncretic mid-lower nosepiece the nasal cavity of goats has some resemblance to that of human beings. We can do some rhinal interrelated experimentation in the nasal cavity of goats. By comparing goats and human beings, it is found that there are many similar nasal constitutions and both have enough capacity of nasal cavity. After proper simulant animal model is designed, many researching projects can be performed such as scent and irritability rhinitis and so on. There is no serious reaction after the implantation of the rhinal stents in goats. The best period for the stent to stay in the nasal cavity is 4 weeks, and the steel wire with 0. 3mm in diameter was the best choice for stents. The rhinal stent can obviously improve ventilation, which can be proved by histology. The rhinal stent of goats build up a good base for human rhinal stent. It is ecpected that the humen rhinal stent will solve more snuffles resulting from various causes.
