Objective:(1) To study the clinical significance of the expression of p53 and p63 gene in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) and cervical lymph node.(2) To study the correlation of the p53 and p63 gene in LSCC. Methods:The immunohistchemical technique was used to detected the expression of p53 and p63 in 63 cases of LSCC, para-cancer tissues, regional lymph node and non-cancer tissues. Results:(1) The p53 and p63 protein was expressed in nucleus in LSCC .(2) The positive rate of the p53 and p63 protein in LSCC was significantly higher than para-cancer tissues and non-cancer tissues(P < 0.01).(3) The positive rate of the p53 and p63 protein in matchedmetastastic lymph node is significantly higher than non-metastasis lymph node (P <0. 01).(4) The positive overexpression rate of p63 gene (95. 24%) in LSCC was higher than p53 gene (47. 62%) .(5) The expression of p53 and p63 was not relative to the clinical typing, clinical staging and pathological grade of LSCC(/>>(). 05) .(6) The p53 and p63 gene is positive correlation in LSCC . Conclusion:( 1 ) p63 gene had important clinic significance to the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of the LSCC.(2) p63 gene perhaps participate in regulation of occurrenc in LSCC, and it may play negative feedback action in the development of the LSCC.(3) p53 gene is the earlier period occurrence and can evaluate the prognoses of the LSCC.(4) The p53 and p63 gene is correlation in LSCC.
