Purpose: Hypertrophic scar (HS) and Keloid are the most seen abnormal scar. At present the only way to identify them is depended on the clinic observation and pathological report. But this leads to a high misdiagnosis rate, By testing the expression of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) in normal skin, HS and Keloid, We will discuss the relationship between hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) and the form of abnormal scar.Material and method: The samples are provided by medical outpatients and hospital patients operation from operations. There are hypertrophic scar (HS) samples (15set) and Keloid samples (15 set), which are carefully identified by the clinic observation and pathological report, normal skin (10 set) and the positive control (hepatocellular carcinoma 4 set). We use the Immunoenzymcytochemistry to test the expression and location of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) in normal skin , hypertrophic scar (HS) and Keloid. We use the blindly to test positive expression and classify them into 4 classes by the staining condition in order to further discussion. We also use the SPSS statistical software set to analyze the result.Result: The expression of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) is strong positive in normal skin, positive in hypertrophic scar (HS) mostly, and doubtfully positive mainly in keloid. There is significant difference (P<0.05) among the expression of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) of normal skin, hypertrophic scar (HS), Keloid. Conclusion :(1) Immunoenzymcytochemistry of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) contributes to the identification of hypertrophic scar (HS) and Keloid.(2) Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) has something to do with theformation of abnormal scar...
