Objective: To explore the effect and mechanism in treating brain hemorrhage at the acute stage with rhubarb. Methods: Random grouping and parallel contrast are employed. The rate in treatment group and control group is1:1 in the total 45 cases. The two groups are treated with Western Medicine, simultaneously taking Chinese Drugs based on the differentiating results. Rhubarb is added to the control group with a course of treatment. Clinical curative effect and assaying item are observed after a course of treatment. As for animal experiment, we'll observe the effect concerning brain exponent, waterish coverage, plasma, the content of NSE in the brain tissue and the blood rheology. Results: the clinical effect is remarkably distinctive in contrast (P<0.01), and the curative effect of Chinese medicine and the cumulative score in the damaged nervous function are also different obviously (P<0.05). The treatment group is better than the control group. According to CT results, the absorption in hydrops in the treatment group is better than the control group with a sharp difference. The experiment indicates that rhubarb can relieve brain hydrops, lower plasma NSE and the NSE content in the brain tissue, improving blood rheology. Conclusion: Rhubarb can sharply relieve the symptom; promote body constitution and absorption of hydrops, noticeably reducing mortality rate. Security test displays that the drug has no poisonous and adverse effect based on short-term use.
