| Objective: To evaluate the feasibility of the application of the altered cast impression technique in fabricating lower tooth-tissue-supported removable partial dentures. Methods: Three distal extension partial dentures were made by altered-cast impression technique. The patients were examined with border extension, indirect retainer movement, soreness of alveolus mucosa and comfort of patient. Results: The result showed that RPDs made by altered-cast impression technique were satisfactory. During the examination period, Only 1 denture was adjusted on tissues surface because of the soreness of alveolus mucosa. The border extensions of all the dentures were accurate. No movement of indirect retainer was detected. Conclusions: Designing and fabricating removable partial dentures by altered-cast impression was recommended. |
