ObjectivesThe aim of this research is to determine the prevalence and risk factors of fatty liver disease(FLD) and metabolic syndrome(MS) among people of health examination, and to investigate the relationship between FLD and MS.MethodsThe questionnaires , physical examinations, laboratory tests and liver ultrasonographies (US) were performed in the people of health examination who apparently healthy. 9543 persons were included in this investigation. Fatty liver disease were diagnosed by US. Prevalence of metabolic syndrome were defined by the The International Diabetes Federation(lDF). The obesity and abdominal obesity were definited according to the new BMI criteria for Asions put forth by the WHO regional office for the Western Pacific region, which abdominal obesity were definited as waist circumference (WC) ≥90cm(male) or WC ≥ 85cm(female), obesity were definited as BMI≥25 kg/m~2 and also referenced the definition ofChinese obesity work group. Diagnoses of impaired fasting glucose and hypertension were based on WHO criteria published in 1999.The dyslipidemia were definited as IDF. The mean arterial pressure were calculated as the following formula: DBP+(SBP-DBP)/3=l/3*SBP+2/3*DBP. All date were analyzed using SPSS 11.5 and SAS 9.0 software. T test, %2 test were used where appropriate.Logisitic regression analysis were used to calculate the risk for FLD and MS,The correctness of regression model were analyzed by ROC Curve. Cochran Armitage trend test and Bayes discriminant analysis were also used in this analysis.Results1117 subjects were found had FLD(12.3%) among the totol, there were no statistically significant of prevalence between male(822) and female(355).1289 subjuets were found had MS(13.5%) among the totol, the prevalence of MS were more in male(807) than female(482).The peak prevalence of FLD was between 60— 70 years, while the MS was 70-80 years. The age> body weight > BMK waist circumference, blood pressure^ Y-GT\ TG> TCn LDL-^ FBG were high among FLD and MS than that among control group (P<0.01) ,while HDL-c and height were lower .The results of logistic multivariant regression show that age , BMI> MBP> y-GT , TG, LDL-c> FBG were the risk factors of FLD, and HDL-c, male were the protection risk factors. Otherwise, age, BML WC, TG, LDL-c, FBG were the risk factors of MS, and HDL-c and male were the protection risk factors, which similar to the FLD. We calculated the prevalence of metabolic disorder criteria between FLD and control, and found that abdominal obesity and high TG were the most. The Cochran Armitage trend test show that the prevalence of FLD were increased by the increased number of diagnostic criteria for the metabolic syndrome . Also we found that the high TG were the highest prevalence among MS, the following werehypertension and FLD. Bayes discriminant analysis show that there maybe some models to diagnosis FLD by some data that could easily obtained.ConclutionThere were high prevalent of FLD and MS in population of people among health examination , FLD and MS have the very similar metabolic disorders and risk factors aggregation .The prevalence of FLD were increased by the metabolic disorder, and FLD maybe one of factors to predict MS. Bayes discriminant analysis maybe used to indeduce the FLD.
