Objective:To explore the correlation between TCM syndrome and the physicochemical indicators of metabolic syndrome in elderly patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease according to pattern differentiation theory in TCM,and to provide reference for prevention and treatment in metabolic syndrome and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease for future.Methods:135 cases were divided into two groups (50 cases in NAFLD group and 85 cases in control group). All the cases were differentiated according to TCM syndrome differentiation standard of Metabolic Syndrome. All patients are needed to record their basic information, like sex, age, waist circumference (WC), body mass index (BMI), systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and biochemical markers, such as total cholesterol, triglyceride, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C), glycohemoglobin, glycosylated serum protein(GSP), ALT, AST and uric acid. Analyze all data with SPSS 13.0 statistical software.Results:1.There is statistically significant difference in WC,BMI, LDL-C, HDL-C, glycohemoglobin, GSP aspects between two groups. WC, BMI, LDL-C,glycohemoglobin and GSP in NAFLD group are higher than that in control group (P<0.05), while HDL-C in NAFLD group is lower than that in control group (P<0.05). And there is no statistically significant difference in systolic and diastolic blood pressure, total cholesterol, triglyceride, ALT, AST and uric acid aspects between two groups.2.There is no statistically significant difference in associated with cardio-cerebral vascular diseases between two groups.3.In NAFLD group, WC of phlegm resistance syndrome is statistically higher than that of Qi and Yin Deficiency syndrome(P<0.05);BMI of Yin-deficiency blood stasis syndrome is higher than that of Qi and Yin Deficiency syndrome(P<0.05),and BMI of phlegm resistance syndrome is higher than that of Qi and Yin Deficiency syndrome(P<0.05);uric acid of Yin-deficiency blood stasis syndrome is higher than that of phlegm resistance syndrome(P<0.05), and uric acid of Yin-deficiency blood stasis syndrome is higher than that of Qi and Yin Deficiency syndrome(P<0.05).4.For Yin-deficiency blood stasis syndrome, the patients with NAFLD have higher WC and BMI and lower HDL-C than that in control group(P<0.05).For phlegm resistance syndrome, the patients with NAFLD have higher WC and lower uric acid than that in control group (P<0.05). For Qi and Yin Deficiency syndrome, the patients with NAFLD have lower HDL-C than that in control group (P<0.05).5.NAFLD group was significantly higher with MS scores;they have higher accompanying in obesity and lipid abnormalities especially.Conclusion:1.Patients of NAFLD group have higher BMI and WC, suggesting that most patients of NAFLD be central obesity.2.Elderly NAFLD patients have higher score of accounting for metabolic syndrome than control group, the incidence of obesity and lipid abnormalities associated is higher.3.Patients in NAFLD group have more serious abnormal lipid metabolism caused by insulin resistance than those in control group.4.Sputum and dampness is the main pathological product of non-alcoholic fatty liver, patients of phlegm resistance syndrome have higher WC and BMI than that with other syndromes, sputum and dampness is key pathological factors to obesity.
