Objective To explore the effect of low density lipoprotein (LDL) on the expression of Annexin Al in human peripheral blood monocytes (PBMs).Methords PBMs were obtained from the whole peripheral blood drawn from healthy volunteers by centrifugation over Percoll and cultured in vitro. PBMs were stimulated by different concentrations of LDL (25 mg/L, 50 mg/L, 100 mg/L and 150 mg/L) for 12 h and LDL(150mg/L) for 0 h, 2 h, 8 h, 16 h and 24 h. The expressions of Annexin A1 were measured by flow cytometry. Results LDL inhibited the expressions of Annexin A1 in human PBMs as dose- and time-dependent manners(P<0.05).Conclusions LDL may play an important role in the inflammatory and atherosclerotic processes by inhibiting the expression of Annexin A1, which may provide a new insight into the development of atherosclerosis.
