The Study Of Shenqi Maixin Tong Capsule's Effect On Monocyte Related Cytokines In Patients With Carotid Atherosclerosis

ObjectiveAtherosclerosis,which is major hazard of some serious diseases such as stroke and coronary heart disease,plays an important role in the progress of various cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.Based on the ShenqiMaixinTong Capsule's effect of tonifying Qi,activating blood,reducing phlegm and resolving masses,a clinical trial was held to discuss its intervention on carotid angiosclerosis plaque,which could provide inspiration for further study.Methods90 patients with carotid atherosclerosis were divided into two groups randomly.Patients in test group(n=45)were treated by Shenqi MaixinTong Capsule and simvastatin,while patients in control group(n=45)were treated by simvastatin only.The changes of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1(MCP-1),macrophage colony-stimulating factor(M-CSF),oxidized low density lipoprotein(ox-LDL),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),total cholesterol(TC)and carotid intima-media thickness(IMT)were observed before and after the 24-week treatment,besides the blood lipid and IMT were additionally collected after 12 weeks.ResultsAfter 12-week trial,the IMT of test group was decreased,whereas the IMT of control groups had no statistical difference.Besides,the LDL-C and TC of two groups were decreased significantly.After the whole trial,the IMT of two groups had statistical difference,and the IMT of test group was decreased more significantly than that of control group.What's more,there were significant difference in MCP-1,M-CSF,ox-LDL,LDL-C and TC both in two groups compared with those before the trial.Furthermore,the MCP-1,M-CSF,LDL-C,TC and IMT of testgroup were decreased more significantly than those in control group after the whole trial.ConclusionThe ShenqiMaixinTong Capsule with simvastatin,which was clinically safe and effective,could influence blood lipid metabolism,stabilize carotid intima-media thickness and slow down the progress of atherosclerosis.Moreover,considered the ShenqiMaixinTong Capsule could reduce the level of MCP-1 and M-CSF,it might have the effect of preventing formation of atherosclerosis,which could be relevant to the decrease in monocyte recruitment.
