Objective: To study the Changers of Interleukin-8 and Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha and Transforming growth factor-Pi Levels in serum and peritoneal fluid of patients with Endometriosis and their effects on therapy. Methods: Levels of IL-8 and TNF-a and TGF -β1 in serum and peritoneal fluid were detected by RIA and enzyme-linked immunoassay (ELISA) in 30 patients with Endometriosis and 20 patients without Endometriosis. Results: In Ems group levels of IL-8 and TNF-a and TGF -β1 in serum were elevated significantly as compared with those in the controls (P<0.01). Meanwhile, In Ems group levels of IL-8 and TGF -β1 peritoneal fluid were elevated significantly. (P<0.01); In Ems group levels of TNF-a in peritoneal fluid were not elevated significantly as compared with those in the controls(P>0.05); In Ems group levels of TGF -β1 in serum w ere elevated significantly as compared with those in the peritoneal fluid(P<0.01).There were strong positive correlation between the levels of TNF-a in serum and the levels of TNF-a in peritoneal fluid in patients with Endometriosis (P<0.05) . Conclusion: It is likely that elevation of serum and peritoneal fluid cytokine levels in patients with Endometriosis may play a role in the pathogeneses of Endometriosis.
