The Effect Of Physiological Dual Chamber (Vitatron 900E) On Prevention Of Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation (AF) In Patients With Sick Sinus Syndrome (SSS)

Objective: To study the effect of physiological dual chamber pacing on prevention of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation(AF) in patients with sick sinus syndrome(SSS). Methods: 16 patients with SSS implanted Vitatron 900E (AF2.0 DDDR) physiological dual chamber pacemakers who were regular followed to campare the change of frequence , general lasting time, onset grading of paroxysmal AF by symptom , ECG, and Holter. Results: All patients who implanted Vitatron 900E (AF2.0> DDDR) physiological dual chamber pacemakers have experienced 12-26 months regular followed.The frequence,general lasting time and onset grading in 9 patients which caused by atrial premature contraction ,atrial tachycardia and post-exercise-rate decline have no significant distinguishment between those before implanted Vitatron 900E (AF2.0 DDDR) physiological dual chamber pacemakers and stage I after cardiac pacing therapy (P>0.05) , but there is an significant distinguishment between stage II after cardiac pacing therapy and before implanted Vitatron 900E (AF2.0> DDDR) physiological dual pacemakers(P<0.05). In 16 patients with paroxysmal AF which caused by arial prematurecontraction, atrial tachycardia and post-exercise-rate decline.The frequence, general lasting time and onset grading of paroxysmal AF in patients with SSS have no significant distinguishment between those before and after implanted Vitatron 900E(AF2.0 DDDR) physiological duble pacemakers;stage I and II after cardiac pacing Therapy ( P> 0.05) . Death and thrombo-embolism didn't occur in all of the patients. Conclusion : Vitatron 900E (AF2.0 DDDR) physiological dual pacemakers can prevent paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF) caused by atrial premature contraction , atrial tachycardia or post-exercise-rate decline,but cann't prevent paroxysmal atrial fibrillation(AF) caused by other causes.
