Tripterygium hypoglaucum level. Hutch (Celastraceae) is a folk medicine fortreatment of inflammation and arthritis diseases from ancient times. In recent years, its preparation was used for the treament of rheumatoid arthritis, nephritis and otherautoimmune diseases in clinic. Many studies on pharmacognosy, phytochemistry, pharmacology and clinical treatment of T. hypoglaucum have been carried out. Itstablet preparation is recorded in Chinese Pharmacopeia of 1995's edition, 2000's and2005's edition. Further study on bioactive constituents and quality control for itspreparation were undertaken. Two immunosuppressive compounds were isolated from T. hypoglaucum byrepeated column chromatography. Their structures were identified as triptoquinone Band H by spectroscopic method. Triptoquinone B and H revealed the significantimmunosuppressive activity in the lymphocyte transformation test. Furthermore, triptoquinone B and H were also the active compounds of T.wilfordii and T. regelii reported in literature. The content determination oftriptoquinone B and H were established by HPLC method, and the content oftriptoquinone B and H in the plant of Tripterygium genus and their preparations weredetermined. The discussion of analysis result showed the essentiality of the qualitycontrol for about the poisonous medicinal plants and their preparations.
