Objective: To analyze 44 cases who underwent stereotactic core needle biopsy(SCNB), and compare the results with surgical pathologies or the following-up results, discuss the value of SCNB in diagnosis of breast lesions. Methods: 44 cases were punctured with computer-assisted stereotactic system, spring-loaded biopsy guns and 16G core needles. A record of each item, including clinical manifestations, a description of the mammographic characteristics (calcification, mass, architectural distortion, et al), the pathology of the SCNB, surgical pathology or mammographic follow-up data were collected. Then the malignant rate, the concordance rate and the false negative rate of SCNB were analyzed based on the comparison of SCNB pathology and the surgical pathology. The reason that SCNB defeaded and misdioagnosed were inferred from the relationship of SCNB accuracy and the X-ray characteristics. Results: 41 cases were punctured successfully, 3 cases defeated. Of the 41 cases with SCNB, 7 cases were malignant, the other 34 were benign. 29 patients were operated soon after biopsy, and the surgical pathology shows 10 malignancies and 19 benignities. 4 SCNB results were disconcordant with the final pathology. The SCNB malignant rate, the concordance rate, the disconcordance rate and the false negative rate are 24.1%(7/29), 89:7%(26/29), 13.8%(4/29), 10.3%(3/29), no false positive. 12 patients were diagnosed as benign lesions by SCNB were followed up strictly. Conclusion: SCNB as an accurate, time-saving, cost-effective method, is also minimally invasive and hardly changes the architecture of the breast. SCNB can diagnose breast lesions in advance, decrease the number of surgical biopsy, and possesses a fine foreground in clinical application.
