objective to exeamine the effect ofpercutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) on blood level of tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF- α ) and high sensitive C-reactive protein(hsCRP) in patients with coronary heart disease and type 2 diabetes. methods 51 consecutive patients who underwent percutanous coronary intervention from January 2004 to January 2005 were included in the study in the center hospital of shengli oil~field(n=51), all patients had at least 1-vessel coronary artery disease involvement defined as a 50% reduction of the luminal diameter in major epicardial arteries, the average age was 60.0 ± 7.9. our study group consist of 51 patients with unstable angina pectoris, and 28 patients who had been received coronary angiogrphy during the same period were selected as controls(n=28),the average age was 61.0 + 8.1. all patients had been received coronary angiography, according to the difference of the reduction of coronary artery, the patients had been performed elective coronary artery stenting in our study group, patients who need coronary artery bypass surgery were excuded from the study, serum levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha and high sensitive C-reactive protein weremeasured in the early morning of the procedure and at 24 hours after the procedure , respectively. Result (1) the result of coronary indicate:there were 15 1-vessel coronary artery disease(30%), 20 2-vessel coronary artery disease(39%), 16 3-vessel coronary artery disease(31%) in our study group, whereas, the result of coronary angiophy was normal in the control. (2) during the same period , the serum levels of TNF-α and hsCKP after the procedure weresignificantly higher than the controls (P<0.001);the serum levels of TNF-a and hsCRP after the procedure were significantly higher than that before procedure in patients with coronary heart disease and type 2 diabetes mellitus ( P<0. 001);however , the serum levels of TNF-a and hsCRP after the procedure wrere not different from that before procedure in the controls ( P > 0.05). Conclusion (I) the result of coronary angiophy in coronary heart disease with 2 type diabetes mellitus manifestate:the occurrence rate of 2-vessel or 3-vessel coronary artery disease was significantly higher in our study group(70%). (2) imflammation takes part in the course of acute coronary sydrome, the levels of inflammation factors in the serum isre related to the seriousness of coronary heart disease and type 2 diabetes. (3) the serum levels of TNF- a and hsCRP after PCI were significantly higher in the patients with coronary heart disease and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
