Objective: To assess the conservative or surgical treatment of acromioclavicular dislocation. Methods: RCTS were identified from specialized trials registered in Cochrane muscle bone group, the Cochrane library additional electronic search (including MEDLINE, EMBASE and CBM), referance lists of articles, we hand search some Chinese Journals. Data were extracted and evaluated by two reviewers independently of each other. Twos trials reported the outcomes specified for the review. They could be combined for meta-analysis. Major results: two studies including a total of 144 patients met the inclusion criteria for the review. Conservative management is best for most acute dislocation than surgical management. Complication of operation also has been reported two of RCTS. Conclusion: There is no significnt difference in pain; decrease in motion and decrease in strength after treatment by conservative and surgical. But the advantages of the conservative treatment were the shorter period of rehabilitation, the freedom from hospitalization.
