BackgroundFatty liver disease (FLD) has already been in second place in liver disease inferior to virus hepatitis, and it has a tendency of young for year more and more, increasingly becoming a serious medical and social problem. Western Medicine has already carried on an in-depth study on it, but has not find out the miracle drug as yet. It is an important task to us to exert the characteristic predominance of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). TCM considers FLD within the realm of hypochondriac pain. The causative factors are over-eating greasy and sweet food, immoderate diet, excessive drinking, physical exertion or emotional upsets. The pathogenesis are ascribed to dysfunction of the liver in dominating dispersion and discharge, dysfunction of the spleen in transporting and distributing nutrients and water, which leads to dysfunction of transporting the subtle essentials from grains and water throughout the body, retention of body fluid, and which set into phlegm, the channels and collaterals obstructed, the flow of Qi and blood impeded and accumulated blood stasis in liver. Take a comprehensive view of the outbreak pathogenesis of the fatty liver, the pathologic change of the stagnation of vital energy, phlegm, blood stasis, impenetrate the each stage of the fatty liver. So to soothe the liver and enliven the spleen, to liquefy the phlegm and remove obstruction in the collaterals, are the basic therapeutic principles for fatty liver. Under these principles, my tutor, professor Chi XiaoLing, found the ZhiGanHeJi(ZGHJ), which is effective in treating fatty liver. ObjectiveTo observe the clinical effect and blight of The Traditional Chinese herbmedicine ZhiGanHeJi (ZGHJ) to fatty liver. To evaluate objectively the validity and security of ZGHJ in treating fatty liver. To explore a kind of safety, effective and economic TCM decoction. MethodsThe 60 qualified test-acceptors were divided into two groups randomly: the treatment group and the control group. There were 30 patients in each group without significance in sex, age, symptom integral and nosography between two groups ip>0. 05) . The treatment group took ZGHJ and the control group took Gan Le. To establish the observing table and evaluating standard of effect referring ^the clinical research guideline of TCM new medicine)) in 2002. To establish the database, and collect the statistics with the software of SPSS11. 5. The statistics means are the categorical data using X2 test, ordinal data using rank sum test, and quantitative data using T test or rank sum test. Resultsl. The tests of blood, urine, stool and electrocardiogram, kidney functions are normal in two groups.2.The total efficient of the treatment group is 93.33%, of the control group is 83.33%. There is siginificant difference in total treatment effect between the two groups (p<0. 01).3. After three months treatment, both groups can improve siginificantly the total integral calculus of symptoms and advertises(p<0. #/). And the treated group is significantly better than the control one(p<0.05).4. Both groups can reduce siginificantly serum transaminase(ALT, AST, GGT)and blood lipid(TG, TC) {p<0. 05 or p<0. 01). There is no siginificant difference on reducing blood lipid (TG, TC) {p>0. 05). But has significant difference on improving liver function (ALT) (p<0. 05).Cone I us i onBy three months treatment, the clinical effect of ZGHJ is a little superior to GLP, but in improving the total integral calculus of symptoms and advertises, reducing serum transaminsase, ZGHJ is much better than GLP. So ZGHJ is a safe and effective prescription of Chinese herbal medicine by clinical experiment. It deserves the clinical espansion.
