Objective: To investigate vascular endothelial growth factor( VEGF ) expression and micro vessel density(MVD) in normal rats and different months diabetic rats,so as to find out the correlation of vascular endothelial growth factor and micro vessel density with diabetic retinopathy.Methods: thirty-six Wistar rats were randomly divided into three groups,ten rats were used as control group(M). Streptozocin(STZ) was injected intraperitoneally with 60mg/kg to induce diabetes for 1 month(M1),2 months(M2),3 months(M3),the average rats in every experimental group.Meanwhile the control group rats were given equal volume lemonacid buffer liquid.Immunohistochemistry and image analysis were used to investigate the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor and micro vessel density on retina.The data were analyse statistically.Results:The was no difference in the expression of VEGF between M1 group and M MVD (P>0.05),but the expression of VEGF was significantly higher in M2 and M3 groups than in M group(P<0.05), the expression of VEGF was significantly difference in M1. M2 and M3 groups.There was significantly difference in MVD each group of diabetes Group and contral group(P<0.05).Positive correlation was existed between the expression of VEGF and MVD.Conclusion:The expression of VEGF increasing gradually is vital factor; MVD also increases gradually with diabetes course.It shows correlation between MVD and diabetic retinopathy. Positive correlation was existed between the expression of VEGF and MVD.Period of effectiveness and space of VEGF and MVDin diabetes occurring and developing are revealed.
