Objective: To evaluate the Spiral CT manifestation of 50 cases with normal ampulla and 54 cases with ampullary and periampullary carcinoma, and to compare the spiral CT manifestation of normal ampulla with ampullary and periampullary carcinoma. Then we analysed characteristic signs of ampullary and periampullary carcinoma and the differential diagnosis. The value of spiral CT, MRCP and ERCP on evaluation of ampullary and periampullary carcinoma was compared. Finally, we analysed the clinical rational application of imaging techniques, and introduced a rational examination programme for these diseases. Methods and materials: 48 cases with normal ampulla,54 cases with ampullary and periampullary carcinoma and 60 cases with suspected ampullary and periampullary carcinoma were consecutively selected. 48 cases with normal ampulla were divided into two groups: male group(30 cases) and female group (18 cases). The mean age of all 48 cases was 45.3±3.2(range, 18~70) years. 48 cases with nomal ampulla were studied with hypotonic Spiral CT. 3 cases of them only had unenhanced CT. 45 patients of them had both unenhanced and enhanced CT. 54...
