A water extracted-alcohol precipitated method for extraction and isolation of hypoglycemic activity components from Trigonella foenum-graecum L. was developed. The pharmacodynamics was studied and the molecular weights were determined. The A, B, C parts were extracted and isolated from Trigonella foenum-graecum L. with 25% and 67% alcohol. The dose-effect relationship and time-effect relationship of hypoglycemic activity of A, B, C parts were observed. The dose-effect relationship showed that comparing to the diabetes mellitus group, the values of serum glucose of A, B, C groups administered for 12 weeks were all decreased significantly (Р<0.05). It was especial that hypoglycemic activity of A part was the most obviously. The time-effect relationship showed that after the DM rats were administered for 3, 4, 6, 8 and 12 weeks, comparing to the diabetes mellitus group, the values of serum glucose of A, B, C parts were decreased differently (Р<0.05). A group entered into force after being administered for 3 weeks. It was proved that the time entry into force, the extent and the persistent time of hypoglycemic activity of A part were obviously better than B and C parts.A1, A2, A3 and A4 fractions were extracted and isolated from A part. The...
