Trigonella foenum-graecum L. (fenugreek) is one of the commonly used traditional Chinese medicines included by the Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China. It possesses the power of invigorating the kidney, strengthening yang, warming spleen and checking diarrheacarminative. Its seeds are well known for their carminative, tonic and antidiabetic effects, as well as antiulcer action, antineoplastic activity and so on. Saponins and flavonoids are the main components.
