Purpose: To improve upon traditional thoracic incision ,the feasibility of subaxillary small incision in the resection for the primary peripheral lung carcinoma was explored. Methods: We retrospectively analysed and compared two groups diagnosed as primary peripheral lung carcinoma, which is subaxillary small incision thoracotomy (34 cases, group A) and standard posterolateral thoracotomy (36 cases, group B) respectively. Incision length, opening time, blood loss during the thoracotomy, real operating time, closing time, total operating time, postoperative drainage volume, postoperative ambulation time, drainage tube retention time, postoperative dosage of Dolantine, postoperative mean hospital stay, postoperative pulmonary complications, postoperative joint dysfunction and postoperative follow-up time were compared between group A and group B.Results: One case protracted the incision length for operation because of moderate adhesion of the tumor. The two groups were basically identical in preoperative condition by using the parameter of gender, age, height, body weight, BMI,FVC and FEV1/FVC%.The retrospective data are followed as below: incision length (11.79±1.47) cm and (25.03±4.04) cm ,opening time (15.18 ± 2.07) min and (19.53 ± 2.59) min ,blood loss during the thoracotomy (19.11 ± 7.53 ) ml and (25.83 ±13.17 ) ml, closing time (15.71±2.30) min and (19.53 ± 2.59)min, real operating time(2.01 ± 0.49)h and (1.74 ± 0.43) h, postoperative drainage volume (487.94 ± 141.39)mland (678.11 ± 121.33)ml, postoperative ambulation time(2.13 ± 0.41) d and (3.08 ± 0.98) d, postoperative tube retention time (3.49 ±...
