Objective: Extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma is the commonest carcinoma in the external hepatic bile duct, and the incidence is high. It was often secretly happened to the old ages and lacked the special symptom. When people founded it, most of them had lost the opportunity of surgery.The patients were weak and had bad liver function and blood coagulation. It is difficult to treat and the prognosis is poor. Interventional radiology therapy is an effective measure except surgical therapy. It is benefit to alleviating jaundice.The transarterial infusion chemotherapy is effective too.By comparing the change of survival rate after PTCD and complication,further treatment, sex, age, site, tissue differentiation, the level of preoperative maximum total serum bilirubin and liver function,this study aims to elevate the factors which affect prognosis.Materials and methods: The clinical and pathological data of 57 cases were studied which treated by PTCD for obstructive jaundice in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from September2001 to November 2005. Among them, 35men and 22 women; age range: 26-94 years old , mean age: 64.05±13.20 years old. All cases were proved to be extra -hepatic cholangio- carcinoma by pathology.
