Background and Aims:The inner ear dieases caused by drug poison, noise exposure, senescence and viral infection can induce acoustic hair cell and neuron damaged,thereby cause inconvertible sensorineural hearing loss.Although hair cells regenerated spontaneously in the inner ear of embryo and adult birds and low vertebrate, by now there even hasn't effective means to stimulate adult mammalian cochlear hair cells to regenerate,the regeneration of vestibule cells was too limited to recover their function.Therefore the absence of the sensory hair cells and neuron was the primal cause for the permanence hearing loss.Whether the cells derived from other organ were induced to generate hair cells or spiral ganglion cells(SGCs) or not,by cellular transplant to generate auditory system sensory cells in the needed location or to protect them,there is the cell therapy for the inner ear disease,which was the hot topic for the domestic and abroad scholar in recent years.Ito,et al reported that many surviving transplanted-NSCs migrate to reach cochlear hair cell on 28th day after transplanted into the cochlea of newborn rat,some of them took on the identical morphology of inner or outer hair cells(HCs) and expressed Phalloidin(mark of HCs). The transplanted-NSCs migrated to reach sensory epithelium and SGCs, Which indicated NSCs transplantation can rapair, substitute damaged and absent nerve cells to reestablish acoustic path and treat the sensorineural hearing loss.
