Objective To investigate the effects of Rhodiola herb on renal epithelial-mesenchymal- transition in ADR rats. Methods The ADR model was established in rats by tail vein injection of adriamycin 3.0mg/kg twice .The rats were randomly as signed to normal control group, nephropathy group and Rhodiola herb treatment group. The rats were killed at the time of 4,8,12,16,20 week and to obtain samples.Renal histopathological changes were observed, the expressions of a-SMA in the constit of the kidney Was examined by utilizing immunohistochemistry. Results Compared with the treatment group, the staining of a-SMA within the tubulonterstitium of nephropathy group was stronger. The expression of in interstitial a-SMA was increased with the degree of tubulointerstitial injury. Conclusion Rhodiola herb has a protective effect on tuhulointerstitial injury in ADR nephropathy, which may realize through the inhibition of epithelial-mesenchymal- transition.
