AIM: To investigate the expression of TFF2 in fundic glands (FG) with Helicobacterpylori (H.pylori )infection.METHODS: Expression of TFF2 were detected by immunohistochemically inparaffin-embedded samples from 29 (92 blocks) surgical specimens. including 5 cases of gastric ulcer and 24gastric carcinoma.RESULTS: Expression of TFF2 was found in mucous neck cell(MNC) and cells withpseudopylori gland metaplasia(PPGM). The positive cells were distributed above 1 2 to 2/3 portions of fundic glands in normal gastric mucous. The ratio of TFF2 positive cells in basal portion of fundic glands was in +,82.0%,57.1%.and 9.5%, in ++,18.0%,42.9%,and 90.5% in mild, moderate and severe glandular atrophy, repectively. All of 29 gastric specimens were positive for H.pylori.CONCULUSION: H.pylori infection increases the expression of TFF2 in deeperglands of the fundic glands, the expression of TFF2 was also associated with the degree of glandular atrophy and Our results suggested that expression of TFF2 was related with mucosal protection and repair processes.
